Symptoms of Ovarian Cancer In Women
Unfortunately, ovarian Cancer is not easily diagnosed. This is because of the fact that ovarian cancer symptoms in women do not often manifest until the disease has reached a later stage. By this time, the tumor may have reached a later stage. It may have become large enough to put pressure on other organs in the abdominal area, or it may spread to other organs. The symptoms are often referred to as “non specific”, which means that they can be caused by any number of different conditions. This is the reason that is important to seek medical advice if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms which cannot be ruled out as being caused by something else. Irregular menstrual cycles are the only primary symptom that manifests early on in ovarian cancer.
- A feeling of “pressure” or pain, in the pelvic region
- Pain during intercourse
- A swelling or bloating of the abdominal area
- Having to urinate more often than is usual
- Inexplicable constipation
- “Ascites”, which is the buildup and collection of abdominal fluid. This can lead to shortness of breath and a distended (swollen) abdomen
- A feeling of fullness, even after eating only small amounts of food
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting and nausea
- Unusual menstruation
- Abnormal growth of hair (some tumors produce hormones that can trigger this phenomena)
The above list contains the most common symptoms of ovarian cancer in women.
