While watching one of my favorite television shows, Judge Joe Brown an ad came on that made me question weather I was a loser or not. You know those ads, the ones from all these colleges that advertise the full list of classes and courses they offer for you to sign up for. The Usual Paramedic, Criminal justice, EMT specialist, type jazz. Other than wondering if I was spending too much time watching television during the day, I had something else pop up in my mind that had to deal with the courses they offer.
Medical Assistant Duties
That question had to do with what did a medical assistant actually do and what did one have to do in order to become one. I guess the ad did their job right? Made you want to look into the course and sign up. I didn’t sign up at all, but I went online to do some research about the different positions and what as we required to become a medical assistant and of course to find out what exactly the did, and earned. Some of the information I found was quite interesting.
Medical Assistant Training
I discovered that in order to become a medical assistant you needed to get proper training. The good news was that you didn’t have to invest a ton of years and time that you would if you really wanted to become a doctor. What else was positive is that a medical assistant actually gets paid well for their time learning to become certified in the field. In a few years studying, cramming and acing your test you could be well on your way into the ER and becoming the next Gray’s Anatomy star. Well not exactly, but you could be assisting in saving lives and adding value in a few years.
Medical Assistant Certification
Once you get the proper training necessary, whether it’s one of those televisions schools advertised or a more prominent well know school, you have to become certified. And also over time keep up that certification to make sure you’re up to date with the latest medical advancements. That makes sense if you’re dealing patients and their lives. I would more than want the person working on me, or helping the person work on me to know what they’re doing to be certified. Wouldn’t you?
Medical Assistant Salary
As mentioned before medical assistants actually earn a decent living. It’s not necessarily a position or job most consider when they think medical field, but there are many jobs available that pay well in the field. With medical assistant being one. Of course you’re not going to make as much as the individuals who had to invest many thousands of dollars and years to specialize, but you will end up quite happy at the end of the day.
The whole process of discover more about medical assistants was quite interesting. No I didn’t register to become one right away, but the ad did it’s job in raising interest and I can see how more and more people are looking into these areas for an alternate career move.
