Avoiding the Common Cold

When you would like to keep healthy, everybody understands how important it is to get enough Vitamin C. You have possibly been told again and again and again precisely how important Vitamin C is to your health. Of course, what is the very first thing people say if you catch a cold? “Take another Vitmain C!” Today, however, there is a little bit of concern over if Vitamin C would stop the common cold at all.

You’ve possibly been told about Echinacea. The plan is that, if you take an Echinacea product as soon as you feel a cold setting in, you can keep it from really grabbing hold of you. More and more scientific studies are proving, however, that Echinacea offers little more than a simple placebo effect for people who are suffering from the common cold or the flu. The greatest the supplement can do is cut short your cold by twenty hours. That’s barely a cure.

So just what do you do to keep the colds away? Here are several hints which should assist you.

1. Clean your hands. Clean the hands a lot. This is probably the ideal and most efficient way to keep the common cold away. How come this is so successful? Think over it for just a minute. The hands make contact with cold and flu germs over every other appendage or part of the body. Have you ever previously seriously considered everything you touch every day? You raise your chances of coming down with something each time you touch anything that has already been touched by someone suffering from a cold or the flu. If you clean your hands a whole lot, you will be far less likely to let any of the germs that you have made contact with get into your system and grab hold.

2. Get lots and lots of sleep. It’s tempting, particularly when times are tense, to stay up later. Perhaps you’ve got more work to get completed. Maybe you would like to spend more time with your pals. Perhaps you really would like to watch a show on tv. All of those things lower the amount of rest that you are able to get. Rest will help your body find the energy to drive back infections that want to hurt you. It is when you’re sleeping and resting that a system is able to do the maintenance and repairs that you need to do. The more rest you get, the easier a time your system will have preventing infection and then getting rid of it if it happens to take hold of you anyway.

3. Drink plenty of water. The entire body needs no less than sixty four ounces of water a day to survive. Your body demands the hydration to help it eliminate the toxins that have taken up residence in your system. If you haven’t been correctly hydrated the germs in your system will simply hang out and get stronger instead of being forced out. Don’t forget: it is possible to go at least seven days without consuming solid food before you die. Without water, you may only last a day or two. That alone should remind you how important it is to stay hydrated.

The issue is: there is no sensational cure for the common cold. What can be done, however, is practice good sense, scrub your hands a lot, get enough rest each night and stay properly hydrated.
